Filippino Lippi (1457 - 1504)

This session explores the later works of Filippino Lippi, a transitional figure who bridged the gap between his father (Fra Filippo Lippi) and the new century. Analysis focuses on his stylistic development as he engaged with the nervous energy and archaeological curiosity of the early Cinquecento. His Deposition at the Galleria dell'Accademia serves as a key case study, illustrating a move toward greater emotional agitation that foreshadows the Mannerist crisis.
