2025 History of Art Courses

Our History of Art course programmes offer a flexible set of opportunities to explore the art and architecture of Florence, covering the 300 years that made Florence the culture capitol we know today.  The city’s Renaissance artists and their works are studied in detail, and always placed firmly in their social, political, religious and historical context by our brilliant team of resident experts.  We offer introductory courses for people relatively new to Florence, and a vast wealth of material for people who wish to go deeper into this fascinating story.

Our 2025 autumn cycle of monthly courses can be followed in person, with lectures and visits conducted in Florence, or online via Zoom. Lectures (live and via zoom silmultaneously) are held and broadcast from the British Institute library on weekday afternoons through Thursday while visits are conducted on Friday afternoons. Additional Saturday morning visits are available for those joining the courses in person. Alongside our our monthly courses we also run thematic seminars and workshops throughout the year.
