Baccio D'Agnolo (1462 - 1543)

This session examines the architectural works of Baccio D'Agnolo, a woodcarver turned architect who bridged the Quattrocento and Cinquecento styles. Special attention is paid to the Palazzo Lanfredini—the home of the British Institute itself—allowing students to understand the evolution of the Florentine noble palace from a fortress to a refined urban residence, and Baccio’s role in shaping the cityscape south of the Arno.
