Piazza San Marco / Piazza Indipendenza

This visit will explore the significant artistic and intellectual hub of Piazza San Marco, featuring the Museo di San Marco (former Dominican convent, renovated by Michelozzo, c. 1437-1452) with frescoes by Fra Angelico, and the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo's David (1501-1504). The walk will then proceed to Piazza dell'Indipendenza, a grand 19th-century square (laid out 1860s) adorned with statues and surrounded by elegant palazzi.
