Piazza della Signoria / Piazzale degli Uffizi

This visit will examine the Renaissance public sculpture of Piazza della Signoria, featuring masterpieces like Michelangelo's David (replica, original 1501-1504), Cellini's Perseus (1545-1554), and Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Women (1583). The walk will also include the lower facades of the Palazzo degli Uffizi (designed by Giorgio Vasari, begun 1560), with their 19th-century decorative programme of statues commemorating illustrious Florentines of old.
