The marvels of Clarence Bicknell

Lecture in English by Graham Avery and Marcus Bicknell

Graham Avery tells the story of Clarence Bicknell (1842-1918) who lived in Bordighera from 1878 and pioneered the exploration of the prehistoric rock art in the Valle delle Meraviglie. He was a man of wide culture: botanist, artist, Esperantist, and philanthropist, he is remembered today at Bordighera’s Museo Bicknell and the Musée des Merveilles in France. Marcus Bicknell introduces a short documentary film on his great-great-uncle.
