Smell of the Botteghe
A lecture by Alan Pascuzzi
The city of Florence was (and still is) a city of workshops - or botteghe - of artisans and artists who work with wood, marble, iron, painting and sculpture. The smells, sounds and sights of the workshops have not changed over the centuries and by observing the workshops today, one can get an idea of what it was like in the Renaissance. This talk seeks to reveal the sensory aspect and the inner workings of the workshop of artists, like painters and sculptors, and the artisans upon which they relied to make their works
