Porcelain from Florence: the Ginori factory

A lecture by Oliva Rucellai

The art of porcelain may not be immediately associated with Florence, but in fact one of the first European factories was established in 1737 by a brilliant florentine patrician, Carlo Ginori. This talk will tell the story of the ‘Manifattura di Doccia’ and illustrate some of the factory’s most significant artistic achievements, mainly kept in the Museo Ginori, a three centuries old corporate archive and collection, now owned by the Italian State. The lecture will also introduce to the exhibition Oro bianco Tre secoli di porcellane Ginori, currently on display at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan.
