Multi-Media Spectacle in Renaissance Florence
Wednesday Lecture, on Zoom and at the British Institute Library
by Kate Bolton-Porciatti
Renaissance Florence was frequently the stage for sacred music-dramas and multi-media spectacles showcasing Florentine ingenuity and creativity. Used variously to teach biblical stories, to celebrate weddings or as political propaganda for the Medici, they dazzled onlookers with special effects, music, dance, lavish sets and costumes.
