Monumental Dante
Wednesday Lecture, on Zoom and at the British Institute Library
by Jason Houston
Eminent scholar of Italian medieval literature, Dr Jason Houston, shares some new research on how the various monuments (statues, portraits) of Dante to be found in Florence tell the story of his (mis)treatment by the Florentines. This insightful and entertaining talk offers a compelling mixture of literary and cultural history to explore the complex relationship between Dante and Florence in the 700 years since his death in exile.
If you are in Florence and would like to attend the lecture in person at the British Institute Library, please register here. Only the first 20 registrations can be accepted. Please note, only people with confirmed registrations can attend the lecture in person. The cost is 10 Euro per person.
