Meet the Author - Charmaine Wilkerson

Black Cake

Charmaine Wilkerson is an American author now based in Italy.  She is a former journalist whose award-winning short fiction has appeared in various magazines and anthologies.  She will be with us in the Library to discuss her first novel Black Cake which has been highly acclaimed and is already in development as a TV series in the US.

A riveting and moving second-chance novel about a fractured family and the lore that brings them back together one last time.... much like the recipe at the heart of the story, BLACK CAKE is deep, rich and best savoured as a special treat.  The Book Report

The evening will be chaired by Simon Gammell (Director of the Institute), starting with a Book Club style discussion of Black Cake and then broadening into a wider chat with the author about her life and work.

Live in the Library and simultaneously online via Zoom.
