Jeremy Boudreau’s wildly entertaining Florence Neighbourhoods series returns with a virtual visit to Il Borgo Ognissanti
Beginning with the founding of the church of San Salvatore dei Ognissanti of by the Order of the Humiliati in the 13th century, the neighbourhood developed in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in the area connecting the ancient centre to the city’s western gate leading to Prato. Jeremy will examine the history and decoration of the church and its adjoining cloisters, as well as the surrounding streets and squares, and the resting places of celebrated locals including Sandro Botticelli and Amerigo Vespucci.
The talk will last about 40 mins, and will be followed by a discussion.
