16 June 1904 is the day on which James Joyce set Ulysses, the most well-known of modern novels: on that day Stephen Daedalus and Leopold Bloom each took their epic journeys through Dublin. Bloomsday, the annual celebration of those events, has become a tradition for Joyce enthusiasts all over the world. The British Institute of Florence celebrates Joyce and his novel; this year we are reading the seventh episode of the novel, generally known by its Homeric title 'Aeolus'.

Everyone is welcome to join us, to read aloud or to listen.

Tea and cakes will be served for our usual Afternoon Tea from 16.30.

The reading is free and open to all. A minimum donation of 1.50 euros is requested for the tea in support of the Library.
