Join Head of History of Art Jeremy Boudreau, as we explore the menagerie of exotic fauna present in local art, folklore and history, from the emblems of Florence’s government and districts, to the frescoes of its Renaissance palaces and chapels, onward still to the diplomatic gifts received and preserved by the city’s Medici princes. As we shall see through illustrated survey, Africa abounds in some rather unexpected corners of Florentine art and culture!
If you are in Florence and would like to attend the lecture in person at the British Institute Library, please register here. Only the first 20 registrations can be accepted. Please note, only people with confirmed registrations can attend the lecture in person. The cost is 10 Euro per person.
