Behind the Medici men: the ladies

Lecture in English by Daniela Cavini

Lucrezia, Alfonsina, Anna Maria Luisa... The twelve portraits in the new book by Daniela Cavini weave into a tale spanning three centuries. It is the first time that a single author - a woman, a journalist, a mother - enters into the lives of the wives and daughters of the most illustrious Italian lineage, casting light on their characters, and on the sometimes obscure reasons behind their choices, sufferings and mistakes. These stories illustrate how, at many crucial points of history, it was indeed the ladies who steered the dynasty clear of shipwreck, and sometimes put it back on its feet.
