Art and the biology of consciousness

Lecture in English by Duncan Geddes

Does great art lift us to higher levels of consciousness? Many think it does, but it is not clear what they really mean. Are there really higher levels of consciousness, or is it just shorthand for vague feelings of transcendence? Duncan Geddes, Professor of Medicine at Imperial College London, takes a biological and scientific approach to these questions.
