Friends of the Library and Volunteers
The Friends of the Library were formed in 1997. This is a group of library members who care deeply about the Library and its importance for the City of Florence.
The Friends are a valuable source of support for the Library in helping with the organisation of events such as Shakespeare week and the annual Christmas bazaar and also assisting with the re-shelving of books and other library tasks.
The Friends meet at least twice a year and entry is open to any Library member. Further details can be obtained from the Library staff.
The Friends also organise the Reading Exchange, an informal get together to discuss favourite books. The Reading Exchange meets a few times a year in the Library.
Thanks to the invaluable support of many volunteers the Library remains open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:30pm.
If you are interested in joining the team then please come and see us: the staff and volunteers will be happy to explain our activities and give further information on volunteering with the Library.
