A workshop to create an illuminated Christmas Letter with Alison Salmon
Saturday 13 December, 9:00-13:00
The letter C for Christmas, this wonderful time of new beginnings, hope and light. In this workshop we will create an illuminated letter with a completely new design by Alison, made in the Renaissance tradition. The details in 23 carat gold leaf and gold pigment represent the light of God, brought to earth by his son Jesus Christ, and also bring to mind the straw in which he was laid in the manger. The Christ child lies in the fetal position of a sleeping newborn baby, referencing his time in his mother Mary's womb, the centre of the letter C, waiting to be born .
Alison Salmon will provide everything you need to complete this workshop and any leftover paints and gold leaf may be taken home to reproduce another illumination of your choice.
No previous experience needed
