This palace, designed by Michelozzo in the mid-15th century, served as the primary residence of Cosimo the Elder and Lorenzo the Magnificent and stands as a prototype of the Florentine Renaissance palazzo. Inside, you'll discover the true jewel of the palace: the private chapel adorned with Benozzo Gozzoli's dazzling frescoes of the "Procession of the Magi" (1459). This celebrated masterpiece is a vibrant fusion of sacred narrative and contemporary Florentine life. Notice how the biblical figures and their entourage are portrayed with the faces of the Medici family and other prominent figures of the time, including Gozzoli himself.
