Renaissance tapestries and textile diplomacy

Lecture in English by Jeremy Boudreau

The head of History of Art at the British Institute of Florence, Jeremy Boudreau explores the founding of Florence’s tapestry workshops under Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici and the earliest tapestries commissioned to furnish the renovated spaces of Palazzo Vecchio based on cartoons designed by the leading artists of the mid-sixteenth century. Dr Boudreau recently gave a version of this lecture at the Italian embassy in London.
