FINDING FLORENCE AFIELD examines Florentine works of art found today in ten important collections around the world. Each of the sessions considers one state museum and one formerly private collection found in a particular city outside Italy. In this context we will introduce participants to celebrated Renaissance masterpieces, as well as explore the history and formation of these institutions, their founders’ ties to Florence , and recent contributions to scholarship concerning collections and display, provenance studies, authenticity and the historical art market.
