A lecture by Marco Cianchi
Mark Rothko visited Florence a few times in the 1950s and 60s, and was deeply moved by what he found here. Sixty years later, the Rothko in Florence exhibition has finally been realised at Palazzo Strozzi - in no small measure thanks to Forentine Art Historian, who had been advocating for it over many years.
Cianchi has written an essay for the exhibition catalogue, and also translated into Italian the book Mark Rothko, From the Inside Out, written by the artist’s son. In this talk he will explore the origins of the current exhibition and take us on a virtual tour of its highlights
