Museo Sant'Orsola – a museum in progress
The new Museo Sant'Orsola is at the centre of a major project to rehabilitate the historic and abandoned Sant’Orsola complex, situated in the San Lorenzo neighborhood.
Since 2023, leading towards the official opening (planned for late 2026), the museum has been organizing events and exhibitions across various spaces within this former convent as it undergoes transformation. These interventions contribute to the rebirth of the site and help establish its place within Florence’s vibrant cultural scene.
Museum Director Morgane Lucquet-Laforgue shares her vision for the space and explores the site-specific works by contemporary artists in dialogue with the history of the place. She will introduce the current show The Rose That Grew From Concrete: a new step in the journey of this emerging museum that has, from the very beginning, prioritized giving voice to women of the past, and of the present.
