Ginevra: A Florentine legend among Romantic authors
A lecture by Ilaria Natali

A young bride, a tomb, a return, a forbidden love. The legend of Ginevra degli Amieri haunted Florence for centuries, before reaching the Romantic circles. This talk explores how Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Leigh Hunt reimagined the tale, showing how Florentine stories travelled, transformed, and inspired bold new forms of creativity.
Ilaria Natali is a professor of English Language and Literature at the University of Florence.
