Student Services / Resources and Social Programme

As a British Institute student you will have access to computer facilities and the internet, our library, and our regular events and social programme.

All students have automatic library membership for the duration of their course. The reading room in the Library has ample space for study, wireless is free to members and there are power points for laptops. Computers for study are available on payment of a small fee. At the Language Centre there is free internet access and a study centre with dvds, cd roms, video, books, periodicals, newspapers and other learning resources for self study. The Language Centre and the Library are both air-conditioned.

Social and Cultural Programme

During the first week of each monthly Italian and History of Art course, we organise a number of events so that students can get to know each other. These include a pizza evening in one of Florence’s traditional pizzerias and a happy hour in a local bar.
In addition, students studying Italian language are encouraged to attend Conversation Exchange with our students of English and other events organised through the Language Centre. All students are welcome to attend the weekly cultural programme and Talking Pictures programme in the Library which provides a good opportunity to meet local residents, both Italian and English speaking. Details of all the many events held in and around Florence throughout the year are always available at the Language Centre and Library.
