L’immagine delle ville medicee: le lunette Utens

Lecture in Italian by Alessandra Griffo

Since 2013, the complex of Medici villas and gardens has been recognised as a UNESCO site. All of the houses and gardens were depicted in a series of lunettes, painted in the late 16th and early 17th century, to a commission from the Grand Duke Ferdinando I, by the Flemish artist Justus Utens.

Dott.ssa Griffo works as an art historian at the Uffizi Gallery.
