Film: THE LADYKILLERS

"Meet "The Unholy Five"...The Most Befuddled Set of Assorted Thugs That Ever Fouled Up a Million Dollar Bank Robbery!!"
‘The last, most enduring and best known of all the studio's comedies, in which the sheer blackness of the central concept is barely disguised by the accomplished farce which surrounds it' (Time Out). A little old lady unwittingly foils the getaway of the farcical group of criminal dreamers. With perfect casting - Alec Guinness again memorable as the fanged and increasingly deranged Professor Marcus and Katie Johnson as the kindly Mrs Wilberforce - the film's subtexts (British conservatism, the Labour government, Ealing studios and its head themselves) are easily detectable under the farce and satire of the simple plot and witty dialogue.
