The British Institute of Florence is the perfect place to study the history of Italian art. We combine lectures with on-site visits focusing on Italian art from the Middle Ages to the High Renaissance, with an emphasis on Florentine art.

The Italian High Renaissance

This course explores the art of the sixteenth century, focusing on the masterpieces of Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael. Several classes are held onsite in museums, galleries and churches to see their works at first-hand. You will also learn about the splendours of Papal Rome, the unique style of Venetian artists, and the Renaissance courts of Milan, Mantua and Ferrara. It is possible to combine this programme with Italian language and/or Life Drawing.

Note that, depending on museum opening times, occasional site visits may be scheduled in the morning including Saturday.
